Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has discussed the club’s reported interest in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo has been heavily linked with a move to the Italian champions, after struggling for favour at Old Trafford. The 20-year-old has not started a Premier League game this season and is understood to be keen on an exit in January.
Napoli have benefitted from signing out-of-favour players from Manchester United in recent windows, with both Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund enjoying fresh starts in Serie A. The former was named Serie A’s MVP last season, after inspiring the club’s title success.
A move for Mainoo is under consideration, with Manna admitting it is a deal the Italian side are evaluating.
“He is a player who has been linked to Napoli since August, also for his age, his potential, and the transfer opportunity,” Manna said, as per Football Italia.
“We have some important absences right now, but sooner or later, the lads will return, strong and determined.
“We have to make the right evaluations, so we’ll see how things progress along the way.”
