Manchester United turned down the chance to sign Chelsea duo Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku in the summer.
Both players were reportedly offered to the Red Devils in part-exchange, as part of Chelsea’s bid to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Old Trafford.
A £40m deal was eventually struck to sign Garnacho with no players heading to Manchester as part of the deal.
ESPN have reported that United snubbed the chance to sign either Lavia or Nkunku as part of the deal.
Though highly-regarded, Lavia has struggled with injuries since joining Chelsea from Southampton in a £53m deal in 2023. The 21-year-old has started just 12 league games during that time. Lavia previously came through the academy system at Manchester City.
United also rejected the chance to sign Nkunku, who later left Chelsea for AC Milan. The France international failed to justify his £52m fee at Chelsea, scoring six league goals across two injury-impacted campaigns in West London.
He moved to Milan on a long-term deal in the summer and has scored once in eight games for the Italian side.
