Manchester City have opened talks with Bournemouth over a deal to sign Antoine Semenyo.
Semenyo has a release clause of £65m that can be activated in the first 10 days of the upcoming January transfer window, which opens on Thursday.
The winger has indicated that City is his preferred destination, despite rival interest from Manchester United.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also admirers, but have been less concrete in formalising that interest.
Pep Guardiola’s side are keen to wrap up a deal to sign Semenyo as soon as possible. Sky Sports are reporting that the Citizens have started discussions with Bournemouth over the details of the release clause.

It’s understood the fee is an initial £60m, with a further £5m in add-ons. Semenyo’s camp are also set to travel to Manchester to finalise personal terms.
City are pursuing a deal for Semenyo as Guardiola continues to overhaul his forward line. Despite the impressive recent form of Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland, the Spaniard is keen to add both pace and unpredictability to his options.
The 25-year-old, who has scored nine goals in the Premier League so far this season, is viewed as a ‘Swiss Army Knife’ option for City with an ability to operate across the frontline.
