Liverpool left-back nearing Roma loan move

Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas is closing in on a loan move to AS Roma.

The Greek international has been deemed surplus to requirements at Liverpool, following the £40m summer signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. With Andy Robertson also offering an alternative at left-back, Tsimikas has been exploring his options.

The 29-year-old is in advanced negotiations over a loan move to Roma, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the deal is at the ‘final details’.

The transfer will be a straight loan, without a purchase option, with the player’s salary covered in full.

Tsimikas will become Roma’s ninth signing of a busy summer under new head coach Gian Piero Gasperni. It will also be the club’s third loan from the Premier League, following earlier deals for Evan Ferguson (Brighton) and Leon Bailey (Aston Villa).
