Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has undergone surgery on his ankle as the club confirmed he suffered a broken leg.Â
The Sweden international was forced off the pitch on the hour mark of the Reds’ win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday after scoring the opening goal.
Isak was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Micky van de Ven as he got his shot off and immediately grabbed his leg. The 26-year-old required treatment on the pitch before being replaced by Jeremie Frimpong.
Hugo Ekitike doubled Liverpool‘s lead shortly after, before Richarlison got one back late on, but the Merseyside outfit held on for a 2-1 away win.
