Lamine Yamal continues to scale new heights with Barcelona after breaking yet another record in the UEFA Champions League.Â
The winger has, over the past two years, emerged as one of the most talented and exciting players in the world with his dazzling performances and silky skills.
Despite his young age, Yamal is ever present in the Barça starting lineup when fit and continues to set incredible standards as a teenager.
Lamine Yamal breaks yet another Champions League record
Following his recent recovery from injury, Yamal started in Tuesday night’s 6-1 demolition of Olympiacos. It was his 25th appearance in the competition, making him the youngest player (18 years, 100 days) to reach that number of games in Champions League history.
The Spain international surpasses surpasses the previous record held by Paris Saint-Germain’s Zaire-Emery, who played his 25th match when he was 19 years and 32 days old. He also converted a spot kick in the second half to become the second youngest player to score a penalty in the competition.
Yamal has been racking up records for club and country in his fledgling career. He’s already the youngest player to start a game in the Champions League and the youngest to play in the knockouts, while he is the second youngest to feature in the competition (after Youssoufa Moukoko). He’s also the second youngest scorer in Champions League history, behind Barcelona teammate Ansu Fati.
