Alexander Isak has reportedly told Newcastle United that he wants to explore a move away from the club this summer.
Isak has not travelled with the squad to Singapore for their pre-season tour, with Newcastle explaining a minor thigh issue as the reason for his absence.
🚨💣 Understand Alexander Isak remains a target for Liverpool even after signing Ekitike… but depends on Newcastle.
If Newcastle open doors to an exit and #LFC sell Diaz, they can bid after direct contact made 10 days ago.

The Swedish striker has been subject of interest from Liverpool this summer. Arne Slot’s side communicated a willingness to pay a British transfer record fee for Isak earlier this month, though Newcastle’s stance has remained that Isak is not for sale. The 25-year-old has three years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park.
Newcastle want to tie Isak down to a new deal but the player is in no rush to commit to a contract. Journalist Craig Hope has claimed Isak has now told Newcastle that he wants to explore a potential exit.
A move to Liverpool is complicated after the Premier League champions signed Hugo Ekitike this week. The French forward has joined Liverpool in £69m deal, taking the club’s spending to around £238.5m this summer.
Any deal for Isak would need to eclipse the £116m fee including add-ons that Liverpool paid to sign Florian Wirtz earlier in the window.
However, Liverpool have recouped around £54m from player sales this summer and are set to offload several high-value assets. Luis Diaz is subject of an approach from Bayern Munich, while Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott are all expected to move on.
