Isak breaks unwanted record after latest Liverpool loss

Alexander Isak has endured a nightmare start to his time at Liverpool, following a British record move in the summer.

After agitating for an exit all summer, the Swedish striker joined the Reds from Newcastle United on deadline day in a record-breaking £125m deal.

The lack of a pre-season after pushing to leave Newcastle has certainly been felt, with Isak having scored just once in nine appearances for Liverpool in all competitions.

Saturday brought the latest Liverpool low of a difficult 2025/26 season, as Arne Slots’s side lost 3-0 to struggling Nottingham Forest at Anfield. Isak failed to make an impact in the game and the defeat has led to a new unwanted record.

According to Opta, the 26-year-old has become the first Liverpool player in history to be on the losing side in each of his first four Premier League starts for the club.

After losing to Crystal Palace on his full bow, Liverpool have also been beaten by Chelsea, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest when Isak has been in the starting side.

There have certainly been teething issues for Arne Slot and his big-money recruits.
