Hasenhuttl reveals Southampton want to make signings in January

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has revealed he wants his club to make some signings in January.

The Saints are currently in the relegation zone and have managed just three wins all season after a terrible start to the campaign under Mark Hughes.

Hasenhuttl has taken seven points from six games in charge in the league, following his appointment in December. The former RB Liepzig boss has spoken of the need for signings at Southampton, to both improve long term results at St Mary’s and keep them in the top flight this season.

“We are looking to bring someone in this transfer period, but it is not easy because in winter you must find a guy who not only for a short-time makes us better, but also for long term,” Hasenhuttl told his pre-match press conference ahead of his sides trip to Leicester this weekend.

“I only want to take a transfer for the future, which is also helping us for the longer term, that is what I want to see.

“It is better to make it as soon as possible, but it is not so easy in the winter break.”
