Guehi insists transfer talk won’t impact England displays

Marc Guehi has insisted speculation surrounding his future will not impact his performances for England.

Guehi is out of contract at Crystal Palace in the summer and is attracting interest from Europe’s top teams. Liverpool remain keen, having seen a move for the 25-year-old collapse on deadline day. Arne Slot’s side had agreed a £35m fee but the move fell through after Palace failed to secure a replacement.

The Premier League champions have now been joined by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The European heavyweights are all weighing up a move for one of next summer’s most valuable free agents.

Guehi’s contract is due to expire during next summer’s World Cup, but the defender has insisted an uncertain future will not impact his performances for the national team.

Asked if he would like his future resolved before the tournament, Guehi said: “For me, it doesn’t matter/ As long as I’m playing well for Palace, there is an opportunity for me to be here.

“Whether it’s sorted or not, it doesn’t matter for me.

“Personally, I don’t know if I can think that far ahead. I like to just take it step by step. That is just focusing on the games that I have at Palace and any upcoming opportunities I have here.”
