Getafe vs Real Madrid – Match Preview and Team News

  • Date: Sunday, 19th October.
  • Kick-off: 7:45pm BST.
  • Venue: Estadio Coliseum, Getafe.

Getafe Team News

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas welcomes back 20-year-old forward Adrian Liso, who returns from U20 World Cup duty with Spain. The on-loan Real Zaragoza winger has been Getafe’s standout performer this season, scoring three goals in five appearances and earning the La Liga U23 Player of the Month award for August.

Captain Djene Dakonam could return after being rested for the defeat to Osasuna. Bordalas has maintained a consistent squad, with six players having started at least seven of the eight league matches.

Real Madrid Team News

Real Madrid will be without midfielder Dani Ceballos after the Spaniard picked up a left hamstring strain during a behind-closed-doors friendly against Real Madrid Castilla. The 28-year-old has not trained since October 8, though he could return for the Champions League fixture against Juventus on October 22.

Xabi Alonso received positive news regarding Kylian Mbappe, who completed Friday’s training without issues. The French superstar had withdrawn from France duty with an ankle problem but confirmed his availability on Instagram, posting: “Let’s go Sunday. Hala Madrid!” The 26-year-old has been in scintillating form, netting nine goals in eight La Liga appearances.

Franco Mastantuono has recovered from muscle discomfort and returned to full training. However, Los Blancos face defensive concerns with Dean Huijsen out due to a calf injury, while Antonio Rudiger remains sidelined with a thigh problem. Right-backs Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold are out, though there is optimism they could return for El Clásico.

Form

Getafe

Getafe have collected 11 points from eight matches to sit 11th in the table. Jose Bordalas’ side remains unbeaten at the Estadio Coliseum this season, with one victory and two draws from three home fixtures.

However, they have struggled for wins, failing to secure three points in their last four league outings. Their defensive approach has seen them average 1.13 goals scored per match while conceding 1.38.

Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso’s side sit top of La Liga with 21 points from eight matches, having won seven and lost just once. That defeat came in a 5-2 thrashing away to Atletico Madrid on September 27, but Los Blancos have responded with consecutive victories.

Their most recent outing saw them dismantle Villarreal 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Vinicius Junior was the star performer, scoring twice and creating six chances. The Brazilian has rediscovered his best form, contributing five goals and four assists.

Real Madrid also boasts a perfect Champions League record. With El Clásico looming on October 26, Alonso will be eager to maintain momentum and move back above Barcelona, who beat Girona on Saturday.

Predicted Lineups

Getafe: Soria; Kiko, Iglesias, Djene, Duarte, Rico; Milla, Arambarri, Martin; Liso, Mayoral.

Real Madrid: Courtois; Valverde, Militao, Asencio, Carreras; Tchouameni, Camavinga; Diaz, Guler, Vinicius; Mbappe.
