Erik ten Hag is being linked with a potential return to Ajax after talks with the club this week.
John Heitinga has endured a difficult start to his tenure at Ajax, following his appointment in the summer. The Amsterdam outfit are currently fourth in the Eredivisie, eight points behind leaders Feyenoord, and are without a point after four Champions League games.
His position is under threat following a 3-0 home defeat to Galatasaray in Europe this week.
Ten Hag is available after being sacked at Bayer Leverkusen earlier this season. The ex-Manchester United manager was sacked after just two Bundesliga games in charge, following a winless start to the season.
ADnl are reporting that a return to Ajax is possible after talks this week. Ten Hag enjoyed a successful first spell at the Johan Cruyff Arena, winning three league titles and leading Ajax to the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals.
He moved to Manchester United in 2022 and won the League Cup and FA Cup at Old Trafford.
