Everton XI vs Chelsea – Predicted lineup and team news

Everton travel to the capital on Saturday in sensational form to take on stuttering Chelsea.

David Moyes’ side have won four of their last five Premier League games. Remarkably, they did not concede a single goal in those victories. This defensive resilience has propelled them up to seventh in the table. However, the Toffees face a daunting historical challenge at Stamford Bridge.

They have not won a league game at this venue in 30 attempts. Furthermore, their manager, David Moyes, has never won a Premier League away game against Chelsea in his career. Despite these statistics, Everton will believe their current momentum gives them a real chance to end that hoodoo.

Everton team news

David Moyes has received a timely double boost in midfield. Both Idrissa Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam are available again after serving suspensions. Gueye is expected to go straight back into the starting XI. He will likely partner James Garner in the centre of the park. In attack, Thierno Barry has overcome a minor shoulder issue. Therefore, he should lead the line as he looks to score in consecutive games.

However, the defensive unit remains depleted by injuries. Seamus Coleman and Jarrad Branthwaite are both sidelined with hamstring problems. Consequently, Jake O’Brien and Michael Keane will likely continue in defence alongside James Tarkowski. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is expected to operate in an advanced role against his former club. He is the club’s joint-top scorer this season.
