Burnley took a massive step towards securing their Premier League status today by beating Spurs 2-1 at Turf Moor.
It was a game that took a long time to get going but eventually kicked into life when Clarets striker Chris Wood headed home on 57 minutes, although returning Spurs talisman Harry Kane drew the scores level with a tidy finish just eight minutes later.
Spurs have made a habit of winning games late recently, but Mauricio Pochettino’s sides luck ran out when Burnley stalwart Ashley Barnes hit home from close range to seal the win for Burnley with seven minutes left on the clock.
Speaking after the game Burnley boss Sean Dyche was delighted with his side’s performance, and praised the Clarets strike duo of Barnes and Wood.

“It was a thorough performance and a good win,” Dyche told BBC’s MOTD.
”We know there’s a lot of work to be done but they’re certainly putting in the work.
“We’re not a side who can slick it around like Man City but we have very good players. We wanted to get in behind them. I thought our front two were outstanding.”
Today’s win sees Burnley move up to 13th, six points away from the relegation zone, while it puts a serious dent in Spurs hopes of challenging for the Premier League title.
