Claudio Echeverri stole the headlines as Manchester City continued their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 6-0 thrashing of Al-Ain in Atlanta.
Pep Guardiola’s side cruised past their UAE opponents to maintain their perfect start to the tournament. Ilkay Gundogan was on target twice for the Premier League side, with Erling Haaland, Oscar Bobb and summer signing Rayan Cherki also finding the net.
The game’s most memorable goal belonged to Echeverri, however, who opened his account for the Citizens in fine style. The teenager linked up with City from River Plate in January but made just three appearances during the second half of the campaign.
Echeverri is aiming to put himself in contention for a regular role next season and caught the eye with a fantastic free-kick against Al-Ain.
The 19-year-old doubled City’s advantage with a strike of perfect placement, underlining his huge potential.
El Diablo has arrived at Manchester City.
