Chelsea XI vs Newcastle United – Predicted lineup and team news

Chelsea travel to the North East on Saturday looking to build on a vital win over Everton.

Enzo Maresca’s side ended a four-match winless run last weekend. However, the manager’s post-match comments have dominated the headlines. The Blues sit eight points off the top and need a win to keep their title hopes alive.

The visitors boast one of the best defences in the league. In fact, they have kept eight clean sheets this season. Moreover, their away form has been excellent recently. They have recorded shutouts in four of their last five road trips. Nevertheless, they face a tough task at a ground where they have lost on their last three visits.

Chelsea team news

Enzo Maresca is planning a significant tactical shift. Captain Reece James is set to move into midfield to partner the returning Moisés Caicedo. Consequently, Enzo Fernández could drop to the bench. In defence, Malo Gusto will continue at right-back due to his sensational form. Trevoh Chalobah is considered a nailed-on starter in the centre.

In attack, there is a major doubt over Estêvão. The Brazilian missed the midweek cup tie with a muscle injury. Therefore, Pedro Neto will be a key figure on the wing. He has more goal involvements than any other Chelsea player this season. Cole Palmer will operate centrally, while João Pedro leads the line.

Chelsea predicted Lineup

Chelsea predicted XI: Sánchez; Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; James, Caicedo; Neto, Palmer, Garnacho; Pedro
