Chelsea Women make the short trip across the capital to face Arsenal Women in the Champions League tonight.
The London rivals meet in the competition’s quarter-finals in a fascinating all-English tie. Arsenal are the holders having upset the odds to win the Champions League last season and will be confident heading into this tie, having been unbeaten in both WSL meetings with Chelsea this season.
Chelsea have endured a challenging campaign with the six-in-a-row WSL champions off the pace domestically, but the Blues have reached the Champions League semi-finals in each of the last three seasons – and in six of the last eight.
Chelsea Women Team News
Sonia Bompastor has said it is unlikely that Australian duo Ellie Carpenter and Sam Kerr will feature after their recent return from representing the Matildas at the Asia Cup.
Elsewhere, Millie Bright and Aggie Beever-Jones will be assessed. Bright has been out in recent weeks with an ankle problem, while Beever-Jones picked up an issue in the weekend draw with London City Lionesses.
“We are assessing her, we will assess her tomorrow,” Bompastor said on the latter. “There is still a chance for her to be available for the game, so we’ll make the final decision tomorrow.’
The Blues will be without Nathalie Bjorn, Niamh Charles, Catarina Macario and Mayra Ramirez, who are all sidelined due to injury.
