Chelsea vs Wolves– Match Preview and Team News

Chelsea host a managerless Wolverhampton Wanderers side this evening, with the two clubs in vastly different states of form.

The Blues are looking to build on last weekend’s 1-0 derby win over Tottenham. Meanwhile, Wolves are in a deep crisis. They currently sit bottom of the table, winless in ten league games, and are reeling from the recent sacking of manager Vítor Pereira.

Team News

Chelsea

Chelsea’s preparations for the visit of Wolves have been hit by a new injury to Romeo Lavia, who has been ruled out after being forced off in midweek. Winger Pedro Neto is also a major doubt and will face a late fitness test. The Blues remain without Cole Palmer (groin), Benoit Badiashile (muscle), Levi Colwill (knee), and Dario Essugo (thigh). However, Enzo Maresca’s attacking options are boosted by the return of striker Liam Delap, who is available again after serving his one-match suspension.

Wolves

Wolves will be managed by interim boss James Collins for their trip to Chelsea. The club continues its search for a new head coach following Vítor Pereira’s dismissal. The squad has been hit by two new injuries, both sustained in the recent Carabao Cup tie against Chelsea. Defender Matt Doherty (knee) and wing-back Rodrigo Gomes (groin) are both out. Gomes is expected to be sidelined until the new year after undergoing surgery. With the senior squad depleted, Collins confirmed he may call upon U21 players like Tawanda Chirewa, Mateus Mane, or Enzo Gonzalez to fill the bench.

Form Guide

Chelsea

Chelsea’s league form has been inconsistent, with three wins and three losses in their last six matches. Despite this, they secured a major 1-0 win away at Spurs last weekend. Their home form has also been strong. In fact, they have won three of their last four matches at Stamford Bridge in all competitions.

Wolves

Wolves are in a disastrous run of form. They currently sit 20th in the table with just two points from their opening 10 matches. Furthermore, they are the only side in the division yet to win a game. They have also lost their last four consecutive league matches, conceding 11 goals in that time.

Wolves predicted XI: Johnstone; Toti, Krejci, S. Bueno; Tchatchoua, Andre, Gomes, H. Bueno; Munetsi, Bellegarde; Strand Larsen
