Chelsea in ‘advanced’ talks to appoint Strasbourg coach

Chelsea are in advanced talks to appoint Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior as the club’s new manager.

The West Londoners parted company with Enzo Maresca on January 1st by mutual consent, following a breakdown in the Italian’s relationship with the club’s hierarchy. Chelsea are keen to appoint a successor swiftly and have turned to Rosenior as their leading option.

Rosenior is currently in charge of fellow BlueCo-owned Strasbourg, who sit seventh in Ligue 1 this season after securing European qualification in 2024/25.

The 41-year-old is highly-regarded at Chelsea who are progressing well in discussions with the French side, according to Sky Germany.

According to the report, Rosenior will be appointed at Stamford Bridge barring something ‘extraordinary’ happening with discussions now advanced.

Rosenior is contracted to Strasbourg until 2028 with a compensation package to be agreed. The Englishman was appointed at Stade de la Meinau in 2024, following a previous stint with Hull City.

His playing career included notable spells at Fulham, Reading, Hull and Brighton.
