Chelsea blocking loan exit for midfielder

Chelsea are currently blocking a loan exit for Carney Chukwuemeka with a permanent sale being sought.

Chukwuemeka spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he made 17 appearances and scored once.

Despite starting just one game in the Bundesliga, Dortmund are keen to secure another loan for the 21-year-old, but Chelsea’s preference is for a permanent sale.

The two teams have been in talks over a potential deal in recent weeks but Fabrizio Romano is reporting that there has been ‘no green light’ from Chelsea over another temporary transfer.

Chukwumeka has struggled to establish himself in West London since joining Chelsea in a £20m deal from Aston Villa in 2022. He has stated just four Premier League games for the Blues.

Dortmund are considering alternative options in the event that Chelsea’s stance does not change.

Chukwuemeka is one of several players Chelsea are keen to offload before the closure of the transfer window. Suitors are also being sought for Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi and Ben Chilwell, who all spent time out on loan last season.
