Former Leverkusen teammate backs Liverpool signings to shine

Callum Hudson-Odoi has backed former Bayer Leverkusen teammates Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz to impress in the Premier League at Liverpool.

Frimpong and Wirtz have joined Liverpool from the German side this summer, with the latter arriving at Anfield in a £116m British transfer record deal.

Hudson-Odoi spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Leverkusen and the Nottingham Forest winger believes his former teammates have what it takes to adapt to English football.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he called the new Liverpool duo ‘amazing people’ and backed them to succeed in the Premier League.

“Amazing players and very good people as well, good energy and good people to be around. They have amazing talent and I hope for the best for them in the Premier League.

“I speak to them as much as possible about what the Premier League’s like. It’s tough, it’s not easy but I think they’ll adapt well. They’re very good players. Hopefully they do well.

“I spoke to Jeremie about it (the Premier League) but it’s always different for every player. Everyone adapts differently. Hopefully he adapts quickly and gets the gist of things.”

Asked where he thinks Wirtz will fit in at Liverpool, Hudson-Odoi added: “He can play anywhere. He’s got the ability to create anything out of nothing. He can play anywhere in the team and I think he’ll be a big asset to Liveprool. He’s a great player so it’s an amazing thing he’s in the Premier League as well.”
