Borussia Dortmund XI vs Hamburg SV – Predicted lineup and team news

Borussia Dortmund are set to visit the Volksparkstadion this Saturday for their Bundesliga Matchday 10 clash with Hamburg.

The visitors head into the game as strong favourites, facing a promoted side struggling to find form against one of Germany’s top contenders.

BVB will be hoping to challenge for the title this season, although they trail league leaders Bayern Munich by seven points; they currently reside in fourth place on 20 points.

Under the tactical guidance of Niko Kovač, Dortmund have evolved into a defensively disciplined team while continuing to display their usual attacking flair.

Remarkably, they have conceded only six goals in the Bundesliga this season, the fewest after nine rounds in more than two decades, highlighting the manager’s defensive overhaul.

Following their recent narrow victory over Augsburg, Kovač remarked: “It was a challenging fixture. We anticipated the resilience of a side battling relegation. Efficiency and seizing opportunities were crucial, and we managed both well.”

Dortmund’s sole Bundesliga defeat came against Bayern (1-2), who are the only team that can boast a better defensive record in the division.

Borussia Dortmund team news

Dortmund will be without Niklas Süle, sidelined by a toe injury, and Julian Brandt, who continues his recovery from a muscle issue. Kovač confirmed Süle’s absence ahead of Champions League commitments, stating: “Niklas will be unable to participate due to his toe injury.”

Meanwhile, winger Julien Duranville has returned to fitness after recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent in the summer.

Possible Borussia Dortmund starting XI: Kobel; Anselmino, Anton, Bensebaini; Svensson, Nmecha, Bellingham; Adeyemi, Guirassy, Beier.

When will the match kick off?

The match will kick off at 2:30pm BST on Saturday, 8th November.
