Fantasy Premier League: Four of the best differentials for gameweek seven

In this article, I will run you through four differentials, one per position, each with less than 10% FPL ownership to help you gain an advantage over your mini league rivals.

Differentials

Aaron Ramsdale (Brighton v Arsenal)

Ramsdale has had a nice start to his Premier League career since he took control of the Arsenal shirt in Gameweek 4. The stopper has looked solid between the sticks and it looks as if he has displaced Bernd Leno as Arsenal’s first choice keeper.

Arsenal’s defensive numbers over the past few fixtures have improved noticeably with the introduction of White, Gabriel and Partey in the side although one can argue it was due to the rather easier fixtures.

However, the fixtures remain favorable for a sustained period of time now so Ramsdale could be a shrewd pick on wildcard not just for this Gameweek alone but for the long term. In four of their next seven fixtures, Arsenal face favorable home ties against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Watford and Newcastle.

What I like about Ramsdale is that Arsenal face plenty of shots, so he’s always in with a chance of an explosive haul due to the saves he can make if the Gunners were to keep a clean sheet.

Nélson Semedo (Wolves v Newcastle)

Since his introduction to the side in Gameweek 2, Semedo is ranked first among all defenders for penalty area touches and big chances. He’s ranked fourth among defenders for touches in the final third which highlights how much he likes to roam going forward.

He’s playing for a defensively sound Wolves team who are second only to Man City for big chances and non penalty xG conceded this season. Bruno Lage’s side are ranked third according to the bookmakers’ odds for a clean sheet this week which highlights Wolves chances of getting a clean sheet are favorable. Hence, Semedo is the perfect mix for a defender who could offer points on both ends of the field.

Conor Gallagher (Crystal Palace v Leicester)

Conor Gallagher is your man if you’re looking for a midfielder that possesses attacking threat with an affordable price tag to his name. Crystal Palace have had a really tough fixture run this season but despite that Gallagher has registered two goals and two assists to his name already.

Since he started playing in Gameweek 2, he’s in the top five midfielders for both expected assists (xA) and expected goals (xG) which highlights how good his attacking numbers have been.

Palace’s opposition this week, Leicester, haven’t quite got going this season, and are ranked in the bottom half for both big chances conceded and xG conceded.

One thing to note though has been that since Milivojevic’s introduction back into the side, Gallagher seems to have lost his share of set pieces – one thing worth keeping an eye on in the coming weeks.

Chris Wood (Burnley v Norwich)

Burnley face a Norwich side who have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the games this season. Norwich are ranked 20th for big chances conceded and 19th for xG conceded in the league this season so remain a prime fixture for FPL managers to target.

If you’re looking for a one week punt before you wildcard in Gameweek 8, then Wood could be a great differential. His ownership is only 1.5% and he’ll be on penalties as well. He’s also playing at home which helps – 57.6% of the goals scored in the Premier League this season have been scored by the team playing at home.
