AS Roma vs Torino – Predicted lineup and team news

AS Roma welcome Torino to the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday evening for a Coppa Italia last‑16 clash, with a place in the quarter-finals – and a meeting with Inter Milan on 4 February – on the line.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s men arrive in outstanding domestic form, having surged up to third in Serie A with 39 points from 20 games. Roma defeated Lecce 2-0 on 6 January and backed that up with another 2-0 success over Sassuolo on 10 January, sealing both wins with late strikes from Manu Koné and Matías Soulé. The Giallorossi now sit four points adrift of league leaders Inter, albeit having played one match more.

AS Roma team news

Gian Piero Gasperini must cope with a major shortage at centre-forward, as both of his first-choice strikers are unavailable. Evan Ferguson left the pitch against Sassuolo on 10 January with a heavy blow to his lower back and has since been diagnosed with a sciatic nerve problem that rules him out of this game.

Artem Dovbyk, meanwhile, suffered a small muscle tear in his left thigh during the win at Lecce on 6 January and is expected to be sidelined for roughly two weeks, meaning he will also miss the Torino clash. Paulo Dybala, who is still working his way back after hamstring surgery, is set to continue as an impact option from the bench rather than starting from the first whistle.

Evan Ndicka is expected to be available following his involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations. In midfield, Bryan Cristante has served his suspension and can be selected again.

Roma do, however, remain without several important squad members. Tommaso Baldanzi, club captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini are all ruled out because of injury concerns. In addition, Neil El Aynaoui is absent as he continues international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
