Arsenal have accelerated their interest in signing Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume, who has a release clause of around €40m (£34.7m).
The North Londoners signed Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard in the summer but remain keen to add another defensive-minded midfielder to their ranks.
Agoume has caught Arsenal’s eye after a series of impressive performances in Sevilla. The Frenchman ranks in the top 13% of all midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues for tackles, interceptions and aerial duels won per game.
Manchester United have been named as admirers of the 23-year-old, though Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting Arsenal are now pushing ahead with plans. Though Agoume’s release clause is set at €40m, there is optimism that a lower fee can be negotiated.
Mikel Arteta has utilised the Spanish market regularly in recent windows, including the summer arrivals of Zubimendi (Real Sociedad) and Cristhian Mosquera (Valencia).
Agoume could be the latest La Liga import to arrive at the Emirates, if Arsenal table a significant offer. He joined Sevilla from Inter Milan for a fee of €8m in August 2024, after an initial loan spell with the club.
