Ruben Amorim has said Kobbie Mainoo will not be punished after the Manchester United midfielder’s half-brother was pictured wearing a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ t-shirt at Old Trafford.
Mainoo has not started a Premier League game this season and is understood to be open to an exit in January.
During the club’s 4-4 draw with Bournemouth on Monday night, the player’s half-brother, Jordan Mainoo-Hames, was pictured wearing a t-shirt with the contentious ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ message upon it.
Amorim was not asked about the t-shirt in the aftermath of the game, but was questioned at his pre-match press conference about it ahead of this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa.
Kobbie Mainoo is firmly out of favour at Man United this season, playing just over 200 minutes in the Premier League 😮

He insisted Mainoo’s position in the team would not be under threat as a result of actions from his family.
“No [it won’t affect team selection]. It was not Kobbie who wore the T-shirt. He is going to play if we feel he is the right guy. That is not an issue. I am not going to do something to Kobbie because of someone in his family.”
