Ruben Amorim has said the return of Amad Diallo is ‘massive’ for Manchester United as the club chase success this season.
Diallo made his return from an ankle injury as a substitute in the 3-0 win at Athletic Bilbao on Thursday evening. The Ivorian’s issue was initially expected to sideline him for the campaign, but Diallo has returned ahead of schedule.

United’s 3-0 win at Athletic Bilbao has put the Red Devils in control of their Europa League semi-final tie. Amorim’s team are within touching distance of the decider and the chance to compete for silverware and Champions League qualification.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Brentford this weekend, Amorim said he was delighted to have Diallo back. The winger has had a breakout season for the club, scoring nine times and providing eight assists.
“[Not having him has been] tough for us. He was the player that created all our [attacking] situations before he was injured. We don’t have many with his left foot characteristics, 1v1, so [his return is] massive.”
Amorim also reserved praise for Casemiro, who has regained favour in recent weeks to play a crucial part in the club’s campaign. He said the 33-year-old should serve as an example to rest of the squad.
“Casemiro improves a lot, works hard, he’s a good example. From not playing, with Collier in front of him, it is now hard to take him out.
“He is a lesson for all players here – no matter the past, everything can change.”
