Manchester City travel to face Tottenham in the FA Cup’s fourth round on Friday evening, with the holders heading to North London looking to end a wretched record at Spurs.
Pep Guardiola’s team have lost all five of their visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since Spurs moved into their new ground, failing to score a single goal in that time.
Ahead of their cup clash this evening, we remember each of Man City’s previous visits to the venue.
Tottenham 1-0 Manchester City (9th April 2019)
Manchester City’s first visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ended in defeat as the teams met in a Champions League quarter-final
Spurs had only moved into the state-of-the-art stadium six days earlier, opening their time at the ground with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The first European night saw Manchester City arrive and Son Heung-min’s late goal earned Tottenham a narrow first-leg advantage.
The South Korean’s strike proved crucial as Spurs went on to progress on away goals, following a thrilling 4-3 encounter in the return at the Etihad. Mauricio Pochettino’s men reached the final before suffering defeat to Liverpool in another all-English tie in Madrid.
Tottenham 2-0 Manchester City (2nd February 2020)
Steven Bergwijn scored a stunning debut goal as Tottenham beat 10-man Manchester City in 2020.
The Dutch winger volleyed home a fine 63rd-minute effort on his first appearance since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window. Son Heung-min sealed the win with a second eight minutes later, with a deflected strike past Ederson.

City had been reduced to 10 men earlier on in a bad-tempered game, when Oleksandr Zinchenko picked up two yellow cards. City dominated the possession but were unable to find the breakthrough, with Ilkay Gundogan having a penalty saved.
Tottenham 2-0 Manchester City (21st November 2020)
Jose Mourinho got one over old rival Pep Guardiola as goals from Giovani Lo Celso and Son Heung-min earned the North Londoners another win in the capital.
A clinical counter-attacking performance sent Spurs to the top of the Premier League table, with Son opening the scoring inside five minutes. Spurs defended well and survived a scare when the visitors had an Aymeric Laporte goal ruled out for a handball in the build-up before substitute Lo Celso sealed the result.
The Argentine’s goal arrived just 35 seconds after his introduction for Tanguy Ndombele, in a managerial masterstroke from Mourinho.
Tottenham 1-0 Manchester City (15th August 2021)
Manchester City must be sick of the sight of Son Heung-min.
The South Korean striker was the difference once again as Nuno Espirito Santo got off to the perfect start as Spurs manager. The season-opener in North London was headlined by Harry Kane’s omission from the Spurs side, as speculation surrounded a potential move to their opening-day opposition.
Son stood up in the absence of his Tottenham teammate to fire Spurs to a 1-0 win, firing a low effort past Ederson early in the second half.
Tottenham 1-0 Manchester City (5th February 2023)
Harry Kane broke Jimmy Greaves’ goal record for Spurs after netting his 267th goal for the club against Manchester City.
Kane’s goal was the difference as Spurs continued their perfect record against the Citizens at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as the England captain fired in for his record-breaking moment.
The goal saw Kane surpass Greaves as Spurs’ all-time leading scorer, while it was also his 200th in the Premier League, a feat only Alan Shearer (260) and Wayne Rooney (208) had previously achieved.
