Mauricio Pochettino has urged his Tottenham Hotspur side to play with freedom when they face Liverpool in the Champions League.
While Liverpool are hoping to claim their sixth European Cup in the Wanda Metropolitano, Tottenham’s appearance in Saturday night’s game will be the club’s first ever appearance in the European Cup final.
However, despite going into the game as underdogs, Spurs boss Pochettino has urged his players to ‘express themselves’ and ‘play with freedom’ in their pursuit of glory.
“The most important is to set a standard and use as an example for the future when you arrive at an important game like a final,” Pochettino told the media at the final pre-match press conference.
“Of course tomorrow the most important thing is to be ready. Tomorrow we deliver a big emotional speech. It’s difficult because they are concentrating and want to express themselves.
“We must play with freedom – when you play as a child with freedom, not think one billion people are watching you. Helping each other, good communication, that will be the key.”
