Solskjaer positive about potential Manchester United turnaround against Barcelona

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United are confident as they bid to turnaround their Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona.

Luke Shaw’s own goal condemned United to a 1-0 first leg defeat at Old Trafford, with Solskjaer’s side facing a difficult task when they travel to Spain to face the La Liga champions on Tuesday night.

The Manchester United manager rested several players for Saturday’s 2-1 win over West Ham, and says United’s comeback win over Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round has given his players confidence they can still progress to the last four.

“I rested a few here to be ready for Tuesday, but we have a decent plan, I hope it’s decent. It’s a plan, anyway,” Solskjaer said following their win over the Hammers.

“You look at the quality of those players and that gives us a threat.

“We carry a goal threat but, of course, what we did against Paris Saint-Germain as a team must give everyone a huge confidence boost.

“That experience was probably the best they’ve had for many years, and they’re probably dreaming about another one of them again at the Nou Camp.”
