How to watch World Cup highlights this summer

The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off in style on Thursday with co-hosts Mexico delighting a fanatical home crowd at a packed Azteca Stadium.

Mexico’s win over South Africa was followed by an impressive South Korea performance, as the Asian outfit came from behind to beat Czechia in Guadalajaram, a fixture that took place in the UK’s early hours.

Unsure how you can keep up to date with all the action in North America? Here are the details of how to watch World Cup highlights this summer.

Is there a World Cup highlights show? How to watch the tournament.

There is no official World Cup highlight show for the 2026 tournament, though you do not need to miss a single moment. The BBC and ITV have the rights to all 104 games in the UK and both broadcasters will provide highlights of every single fixture.

Both ITV and the BBC are doing their utmost to avoid spoilers from the early hours (BST) fixtures. On ITV X and BBC iPlayer, the duo’s respective streaming sites, their pre-highlight thumbnails do not include the result or spoilers.

ITV’s coverage can be accessed via the ITV X homepage, while BBC iPlayer has a specified World Cup hub.

Both broadcasters will also release short-form highlights via YouTube. However, the thumbnails and headlines can often give away a clue as to how events unfolded, or even the result. As a rule, ITV tends to be a little safer as the result is not shown on the thumbnail.
