‘It’s okay’ – Haaland unimpressed by goal tally for Man City this season

Erling Haaland may be the top goal scorer in the Premier League this season, but the Man City striker clearly feels he should have even more this season.

The Norwegian found the net on Saturday as City beat Brentford 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium to get back to winning ways following Monday’s 3-3 draw with Everton.

Jeremy Doku opened the scoring on the hour mark and Omar Marmoush completed the rout in stoppage time after being set up by Haaland.

“It feels good to win 3-0,” the forward told Sky Sports. “We just missed the last shot on goal today. We created a lot of chances and didn’t get the last shot on a lot of crosses.

“Brentford defended well. They are a good team. There are no easy games in the Premier League. So we are happy.”

Haaland is now on 26 goals in the Premier League this season, four ahead of the next closest player, Brentford’s Igor Thiago. He is currently on a run of four consecutive league games with a goal, after going five consecutive games without one.

“It’s alright,” he said. “It’s been an up and down season. I am trying to do my job and 26 goals is more than last year. So it’s okay.”

Man City are back in action again on Wednesday when they entertain Crystal Palace.

“I haven’t thought of any other game. Just tired playing this game. How we approach the next game is not think of any other games for two days and then try to win the next game. Recover. Then next game and the same again.”

The win puts City back within two points of leaders Arsenal in the Premier League table as they chase another title. “If you play for Manchester City, you think of titles every single day.”
