Fabregas in no rush to make Premier League move amid Chelsea links

Cesc Fabregas has said the Premier League ‘is the best league in the world’ but that he is in no rush to return to the division as a coach.

Fabregas has been named as a potential option for former club Chelsea, who are conducting a search for a new manager. Chelsea sacked Liam Rosenior last month and are assessing options ahead of the summer.

Fabregas has earned admirers for his work at Italian side Como. The Spaniard has led the club back into Serie A, with Como now challenging the division’s top teams for a place in Europe. Como are currently three points behind fourth-placed Juventus in the race for Champions League qualification.

Discussing his future, Fabregas admitted the Premier League is a long-term goal. However, the 39-year-old said he is in no rush to get to England with a long coaching career ahead of him.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world. I’ve always been very, very clear about it. I felt it as a player, I feel it as a coach, as a fan,” he told The Telegraph.

“But [José] Mourinho told me one day when I was at Chelsea ‘I still have 30 years to work’. So I could be here [Como] for 10 years, and you can still go to the Premier League in 12, 15 years.”
