Nico O’Reilly injury update ahead of Man City vs Arsenal title decider

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has delivered an injury update on Nico O’Reilly and the rest of his squad ahead of facing Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

The Cityzens welcome the Gunners to the Etihad Stadium this Sunday in a potentially title-deciding tie between the top two sides in the division.

City closed the gap to the leaders to six points after capitalising on the north London outfit’s defeat to Bournemouth last weekend, beating Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. They can go level on points by beating Mikel Arteta’s side and winning their game in hand over Burnley next Wednesday.

Guardiola needs all of his key players fit for this game, but has been dealing with a couple of injury worries this week. Ruben Dias has been sidelined by an ankle injury he sustained last month while O’Reilly was a doubt after being forced off with a problem against Chelsea.

The City boss confirmed that Dias will miss the Arsenal game, but O’Reilly will be available for selection after training this week.

“Ruben is not ready still but Nico is fine,” Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference.

“I prefer to have everyone available but during the season, there are always injuries.”

O’Reilly has been a pivotal figure in the first team since making his senior breakthrough this season. He has supplanted summer signing Rayan Ait-Nouri as the starting left-back, but he has also impressed in midfield.

The 21-year-old has registered five goals and three assists in the Premier League this term, while he also scored in the League Cup final victory over Arsenal last month, underlining his importance for this match.
