The six Arsenal players to withdraw from international duty

Six senior Arsenal players have withdrawn from their respective national teams for the upcoming break.

A host of Mikel Arteta’s squad will play no part for their countries for the upcoming internationals, after opting to remain in North London to overcome minor injuries.

Gabriel Maghalaes was the latest to pull out after Brazil announced the centre-back was suffering from knee discomfort. He joins central defensive partner William Saliba in withdrawing from national duty. The French Football Association said Saliba is suffering from recurring ankle pain.

The pair join Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze in remaining at Arsenal over the break, with the midfield duo having missed Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City. Both will focus on their recoveries instead of joining up with Norway and England respectively.

Jurrien Timber also missed the Wembley defeat and will not feature for the Netherlands. Leandro Trossard (Belgium) has also withdrawn from international selection.

Arsenal return to action against Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals on April 4th.
