Borussia Dortmund have a ‘genuine interest’ in re-signing Jadon Sancho this summer.
Sancho is set to become a free agent when his contract at Manchester United expires at the end of the campaign. The winger has spent the past two-and-a-half seasons out on loan after a difficult period at Old Trafford, with loan stints at Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
Fabrizio Romano has said the 25-year-old will ‘assess all proposals’ in the summer but is expected to receive an offer from Dortmund. The German side are keen to bring Sancho back to The Westfalenstadion for a third time, given his previous success in the Bundesliga.
Sancho has recorded 120 goals and assists in 153 appearances for Dortmund over two spells and was twice named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season before his £73m transfer to Manchester United in 2021. After returning on loan during the 2023-24 campaign, he helped the German side to the Champions League final.
The sticking point will be Sancho’s salary, having collected in excess of £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford. He will need to take a significant cut on those earnings to facilitate a return to Dortmund.
