Atalanta and Bayern Munich meet for the first time ever in competitive action as they clash in the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League.
Vincent Kompany’s side will be looking to take a strong result back to Munich, while Atalanta will try to make the most of home advantage against a Bayern team widely seen as one of the favourites to win the competition.
Since a 2–2 draw away to Hamburger SV on 31 January, Bayern have put together six consecutive victories in all competitions, scoring 20 goals across those games. In the Bundesliga, they are 11 points clear at the top, with 66 points from 25 matches and a goal difference of +68.
Bayern Munich team news
Manuel Neuer is unavailable after suffering a calf muscle injury, in a recent Bundesliga win.
The problem is expected to keep him out for a few weeks, ruling him out of this Champions League clash with Atalanta. With Neuer sidelined, Jonas Urbig is set to start in goal for Bayern in this match.
Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito are also out injured, while 17‑year‑old defender Cassino Kiala has been ruled out for the entire season.
There have been some worries over Harry Kane’s fitness after he recently sat out a league game with a minor issue, but the injury is not seen as serious and Bayern’s staff are optimistic he will be available, or very close to full fitness, for the trip to Atalanta.
Bayern Munich predicted lineup
Possible Bayern Munich starting XI: Urbig; Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Musiala, Diaz; Kane
When will the match kick off?
The match will kick off at 8pm BST on Tuesday, 10th March.
