Former Chelsea captain John Terry has admitted he has not lost any of his ‘hate’ for London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Terry made 717 appearances for Chelsea during a decorated career with the club, in which the centre-back captained the Blues to five Premier League titles among his honours.
Having come through the academy to play a key role in Chelsea’s most successful era, Terry was well-versed in the club’s rivalries.
Speaking to Petr Cech in an interview for Flashscore, Terry told his former teammate that the hatred towards Tottenham remains with him, almost a decade after his departure from Stamford Bridge.
“I hate Spurs. Honestly, it’s really clear,” he said.
“And this is when you’re at a club for so long, from 2014 when I first joined the club. I remember being a ball boy when I was 14, 15, and I was by the Spurs fans and they were abusing me. I was a kid.
“They were abusing me, throwing stuff at me, and it was like, wow, I feel it. I really feel, and that just stayed with me. And also really proud of the fact we, in our time, we never lost a home game against Spurs. And that’s still the same now.”
