Yaya Toure believes the psychological boost of winning the Carabao Cup final could impact the Premier League title race.
Manchester City face Arsenal in the League Cup decider later this month, as the Premier League’s top two contest the first major silverware of the campaign.
The two teams are currently embroiled in a tense title race, with Arsenal five points clear of the Citizens, having played a game more.
Former Manchester City midfielder Toure has outlined his hope that his old team can overhaul the Gunners in the run-in. He believes the looming cup final between the teams at Wembley could be a ‘turning point’ if City can claim the trophy.
“As a Manchester City fan, we are there, we are still behind them [Arsenal] again,” the Ivorian said to Sky Sports.
“[Carabao Cup final] could be a turning point. If Man City win that game it can be a big, big [boost]. I hope Man City win that game, because that one is going to be significant for the rest of the season.”
