Tammy Abraham living Aston Villa ‘dream’ following January transfer

Tammy Abraham says it “feels like a dream” to be back at Aston Villa after scoring an equaliser against Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The striker joined the Villains from Besiktas for an £18 million transfer fee in January, six years after scoring 25 goals for the club while on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Abraham followed up his goal against Newcastle United in the FA Cup with an important one against Leeds at Villa Park after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Ezri Konsa headed a corner towards the 28-year-old, who lobbed the ball over Dominic Calvert-Lewin with his knee to cancel out Anton Stach’s brilliant first-half free kick.

“Like I said many times, it feels like a dream to come back and play for this club again. I’m happy to be here and bring extra energy,” Abraham said after the full-time whistle.

“I had to sniff around the box, be alert, be ready. Luckily for us, I got the goal.

“These things are important in football. Set pieces have been one of the key factors in football. We were hungry. Well done to Ezri [Konsa] for the first contact and I was there for the second contact. It was in front of some of the best supporters in the world.”
