Arsenal have been offered encouragement in the club’s pursuit of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
The Spain international is on the club’s shortlist of wide options for the summer, as the North Londoners look to upgrade in the final third. A high-profile left-winger is on the agenda for Arsenal, with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon also of interest.
Arsenal have now been offered encouragement by intermediaries of Williams, according to TEAMtalk.
Despite the 23-year-old signing a stunning 10-year deal at San Mames last summer, amid interest from Barcelona, Williams is now ready to consider a summer transfer. It comes amid a disappointing campaign for Athletic, who are ninth in La Liga.
Williams’ contract is understood to contain a release clause of around €95m, which could help facilitate an exit. The winger has scored four league goals during a 2025-26 campaign that has been impacted by fitness issues.
Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have also been credited as suitors for the Spaniard.
