Our Premier League Team of the Week is in after the weekend’s conclusion. This week’s XI features big names from Chelsea, Brentford, and Manchester City.
Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donnarumma – Manchester City
The Italian is a game-changing goalkeeper. Donnarumma’s distribution might have been suspect at times, but his ability to relieve pressure and make big saves at key moments is world-class. How big could his last-gasp save from Alexis Mac Allister be in the season’s story?
Centre-back: Maxence Lacroix – Crystal Palace
Cool, calm, and collected. Lacroix led Crystal Palace to a 1-0 win at rivals Brighton, making seven clearances and one vital last-man challenge. The Frenchman dominated his defensive duels, winning 6/7 on the ground at the Amex Stadium. He’s more important than ever after Marc Guehi’s exit.
Centre-back: Axel Disasi – West Ham
A solid debut for the loanee, who looks like a sensible signing for West Ham. Disasi was a calming presence at the back for the Hammers, who have looked like a different team in recent weeks. The Frenchman played some lovely long passes at Turf Moor.

Centre-back: Pascal Struijk – Leeds United
Superb as Leeds earned a big win over relegation rivals Nottingham Forest at Elland Road. The Dutch defender made 12 clearances, nine of which came via his head, and carried the ball confidently when required. His success in the air, winning five out of six aerial battles, was crucial to his side’s success.
Midfield: Vitaly Janelt – Brentford
An excellent outing for Vitaly Janelt, who went toe-to-toe with Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali – and won.
The German got the crucial equaliser at Newcastle and was equally important at the other end with a goal-saving clearance to deny former Brentford teammate Yoane Wissa. Brentford will be delighted to have tied the midfielder down to a new deal.
Midfield: Bernardo Silva – Manchester City
Some have suggested Bernardo Silva’s best is behind this season – not on the evidence of this weekend’s win at Liverpool.
The Manchester City captain was everywhere at Anfield, covering every blade of grass, retaining possession brilliantly, and popping up with the equaliser in City’s comeback win. An incredible footballer.
Midfield: Bruno Fernandes – Manchester United
The best player on the pitch as Manchester United made it four wins in a row under Michael Carrick. Influential, as ever, Fernandes carved out six chances against Spurs at Old Trafford.
He was involved in the training ground routine for the opening goal and scored the second himself with a fine finish. Only Wayne Rooney has reached 200 goals and assists for Manchester United in fewer games during the Premier League era.

Midfield: Cole Palmer – Chelsea
Cole Palmer admitted post-match that he’s still dealing with niggling injuries, but even this version of the Chelsea star is special.
Palmer became the first player in Premier League history to have scored three first-half hat-tricks after an early treble at Wolves. Two clinical penalties and an emphatic third did the damage.

Forward: Bryan Mbeumo – Manchester United
The centre-forward role suits Bryan Mbeumo at Manchester United. Another goal for the Cameroonian capped an impressive all-round performance against Spurs, as Mbeumo’s mobility and intelligent runs stretched Spurs in behind.
Forward: Dango Ouattara – Brentford
The match-winner for Brentford, who keep on flying under Keith Andrews. The Bees stunned Newcastle at St James’ Park to remain in contention for European football.
Dango Ouatarra was involved in all three goals in an electric performance, capped by his late winner.

Forward: Viktor Gyokeres – Arsenal
Has Viktor Gyokeres found his feet at Arsenal? The Swedish striker scored twice off the bench against Sunderland to make it five goals in his last six games.
An immediate impact saw Gyokeres give Arsenal a 2-0 lead at the Emirates with a smart finish, before he gratefully tapped in an unselfish square pass from Gabriel Martinelli late on. His confidence is on the up.
