Oliver Glasner was positive about Crystal Palace’s performance against Chelsea at Selhurst Park on Sunday despite losing 3-1.Â
The scoreboard was unfair to the hosts as the Blues scored three goals through Estevao Willian, Joao Pedro and a penalty from Enzo Fernandez.
The south London outfit’s day went from bad to worse when Adam Wharton was sent off for a shocking challenge on Moises Caicedo, although Chris Richards did get a consolation before full-time.
The result means Palace have now gone 11 games without a win in all competitions, losing their last three matches on the bounce.
“I saw many good things but we lost and haven’t won for 11 games. We played a good first half, then we had one big chance, couldn’t take it, made one big mistake and we were 1-0 down.
“We conceded another goal and we lost completely our confidence and the structure and the game was over. But after 3-0 down and having a red card, we created three more chances that gives me confidence we will get this turned around and have a lot of confidence we will get this sorted.
“I cannot blame anyone, it’s just a lack of confidence and it’s my job, together with the staff, to get the confidence back. I really liked the spirit, even when it was 3-1 there was a belief in the stadium and that gives me a lot of positivity. This is such a great group of players, such great character that’s why I really have a huge belief in this group.”
Chelsea were awarded their penalty in the second half after a VAR check showed that Jaydee Canvot denied the visitors a goal with his arm. Glasner accepted that the decision was the correct one.
“If you save a ball with your hand that would’ve been a goal then yes it’s a penalty.”
