Pep Guardiola said he was “really pleased” with Marc Guehi after helping Man City beat Wolves on his debut for the club.Â
The centre-back joined City this week in a £20 million deal with Crystal Palace to become the club’s second signing of the January transfer market.
Guehi started the match alongside Abdukodir Khusanov, completing the most passes (95) of any player as the team kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win at home.
Pep Guardiola hails Marc Guehi following Man City debut
“We won against a team who were unbeaten in the last four or five games so pretty pleased,” Guardiola told BBC Match of the Day after the final whistle.
“The captain of Crystal Palace has to be something special. Really pleased for him. He is so demanding for ourselves to do better. Good players adapt quick and understand the game so that’s why.”
Guehi admitted he still has to learn the intricacies of City’s style of play, but says it has been an exciting week for him.
“It was okay from my part, I have got a lot of learning to do to get up to speed. There’s a lot of details and positioning and certain things but it has been really exciting.
“There’s a good mentality about the group, important that the focus is on the next game, making sure we get the win. We need the mentality and the intensity within the side and hopefully we will keep that going.”
