Arsenal are set to send Ethan Nwaneri out on loan to Marseille after agreeing a deal in the January transfer window.Â
The winger will link up with former Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi in the hope of getting more gametime.
The 18-year-old’s fledgling career has stalled somewhat after enjoying a break season last year. He is yet to start a Premier League match this season after making 11 starts in 2024/25.
Arsenal agree Ethan Nwaneri transfer with Marseille
Fabrizio Romano reports that a “deal (is) in place” for Nwaneri to join Marseille on loan until June, with no purchase option included in the move.
The French side will cover the player’s salary and pay a loan fee around €4 million, dependent on appearances.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta spoke with De Zerbi about plans for the teenager after the Gunners “suggested” that Marseille was the “best option” for the youngster to develop.
The Athletic claim that other suitors wanted a “permanent mechanism” built into the deal, but Arsenal were opposed to any such clauses.
