Guardiola coy on Semenyo and Bobb transfers ahead of January window

Pep Guardiola refused to discuss the potential arrival of Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City in the January transfer window.

The City boss was also tight-lipped on the future of Oscar Bobb, who has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund among other clubs.

Bournemouth and City are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Semenyo, who has a release clause worth £65 million which it is believed can be activated between 1 January and 10 January.

A deal may not be as imminent as thought, however, following Andoni Iraola’s comments on the player’s future following Bournemouth’s draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Semenyo seemingly bid farewell to the travelling Cherries supporters after playing a key role in an entertaining encounter, which finished 2-2.

But Iraola stated afterwards that he expects the winger to play at least one more game for the south coast outfit. They welcome Arsenal to Dean Court this Saturday.

“It’s not his last game here with us,” he said. “I cannot say a hundred per cent but I think he will play.

“He has to recover, we’ve played two difficult games in three days. We have Arsenal at home, we get ready for another one, a demanding game against the leaders. Definitely he’s going to be an important player for us.”

Guardiola coy on Semenyo and Bobb transfers ahead of January window

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s trip to Sunderland on Thursday, Guardiola gave nothing away on either Semenyo or Bobb, who has only made five starts in the Premier League this season.

“What is going to happen is going to happen,” he said.

“I don’t have any news. The winter transfer window is completely closed right now.”
