Aston Villa continued their incredible form with a 2-1 win at Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
Ollie Watkins came off the bench to score twice for Aston Villa, including an 84th-minute winner at Stamford Bridge.
The result keeps The Villans firmly in the title picture, with Unai Emery’s team just three points behind leaders Arsenal as we prepare to head into 2026.
Aston Villa have not won a top-flight league title since 1981, but confidence is increasing around an unexpected challenge this time around.
Villa have now won a club-record 11 consecutive games in all competitions, and eight in a row in the Premier League.

Momentum is with Villa, though the club still have a significant way to go to close in on the Premier League’s best-ever winning streaks.
The current record is jointly-shared by Manchester City (2017-18) and Liverpool (2019-20), who each recorded 18 successive victories during those respective title-winning campaigns.
City’s 18-game winning run helped propel Pep Guardiola’s side to 100 points, the highest-ever recorded in an English top-flight campaign.
Liverpool, meanwhile, recorded 18 consecutive wins during a record-breaking start to the 2019-20 season under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds earned 26 wins and one draw from their opening 27 games, for a total of 79 points out of a possible 81. It remains the best-ever start to a season in one of Europe’s top-five leagues and ended with a drought-breaking title success.
