Fulham XI vs Newcastle – Predicted lineup and team news

Fulham face Newcastle United at St James’ Park tonight in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The Cottagers are targeting a first-ever major trophy in this season’s competition. Fulham reached the semi-finals in 2023/24 and a win in the North East will secure another last-four berth.

However, in their path are the holders, who ended their 56-year trophy drought by beating Liverpool in last season’s final at Wembley.

Fulham have beaten Bristol City, Cambridge United and Wycombe Wanderers to reach the last eight, with the latter success on penalties. Newcastle have secured home wins over Bradford City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Fulham team news

Marco Silva’s squad has been decimated by departures for the Africa Cup of Nations this week. Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Calvin Bassey have all left to join Nigeria’s challenge at the mid-season tournament.

Jorge Cuenca could be recalled to replace Bassey at centre-back, while Fulham will again lean on Harry Wilson for creativity in the final third.

In terms of injuries, Rodrigo Muniz remains out with a thigh issue, so Raul Jimenez is expected to lead the line. Ryan Sessegnon also has a thigh problem and will not feature.

Fulham Predicted Lineup

Predicted Fulham XI: Leno; Tete, Andersen, Cuenca, Castagne; Berge, Lukic; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Kevin; Jimenez.
