Manchester City star Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named by FIFA as The Best Goalkeeper for 2025.
The Italian was announced as winner of the award on Wednesday, awarded to the goalkeeper recognised as world football’s best in the calendar year.
Donnarumma’s achievements in the year include quadruple success with Paris Saint-Germain, playing a pivotal role as the French side won the Champions League for the first time in their history. Following that triumph, he moved to the Premier League with Manchester City in the summer.
Donnarumma wins The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper for the first time and becomes the second Italian to win the prize, after Gianluigi Buffon won the inaugural award in 2017. The former’s success follows his Yashin Trophy win at this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
