Chelsea are ready to renew their long-standing interest in AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
The West Londoners held negotiations with Milan over a deal to sign Maignan last summer but the two teams were unable to agree a fee. Maignan is yet to sign a new contract at the San Siro and will be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides in January.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are preparing an approach to sign the 30-year-old France international on a free transfer.
Enzo Maresca remains unconvinced by current goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and Maignan would add vital experience to a youthful squad at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are not alone in expressing interest in Maignan, however, with Bayern Munich monitoring his situation. The German champions consider Maignan as a potential replacement for Manuel Neuer, who will turn 40 in March.
Though Milan remain hopeful of persuading Maignan to stay, the Rossoneri are unable to match the salaries likely to be tabled from either Chelsea or Bayern. Maignan has made 176 appearances for Milan since joining from Lille in 2021.
